I made the MDT list for today and received a call from the Colorectal Nurse to discuss my treatment. I’ll definitely be having surgery to remove the sigmoid , during last weeks colonoscopy a suspected adenoma was found on the ICV ( Ileocecal Valve) the biopsy from here has confirmed its pre cancerous so it needs to be removed . Plan being I have another colonoscopy to remove the adenoma on ICV  by EMR - once that’s out and tested to make sure it doesn’t have any cancer cells I’ll then have the surgery . Once the Sigmoid bit is out they will test to see if the cancer has gone into the blood vessels etc .
Good news is no spread to liver or lungs .

  • Fantastic news it has not spread and I am delighted to hear that .
However frustrating  to have to go through another colonoscopy. However their diligence will be your gain in the future . Your team sound very thorough and speedy too .

How are you feeling? A lot of information to process but given their approach so far it sounds as though you are with a good team .

    Take care ,

  • Hi

im feeling ok thank you . The concerning niggle is the Adenoma on the ICV but I know my Pet Scan I had at the end of October didn’t show cancer here only in the sigmoid so I’m holding onto that !
im the kind of person that craves knowledge so I do like to know everything and I found the nurse very open to my questions . It’s funny that my main worries although certainly not overwhelming is how my Takayasu symptoms will cope .
i believe Adenoma on the ICV is rare , I haven’t been able to find anyone else that mentions this area
