I had a colonoscopy and polypectmy last Monday . The GP sent me to A and E yesterday as I had bad tum pains and alternating between diarrhoea and constipation 3 days after that procedure . They suspected either an infection or stomach bug . This morning the doctor doing the rounds gently told me the biopsy confirms cancer and that the colorectal team will be coming to see me . I’ve no idea yet if it’s in the sigmoid which is where they removed a large poly or in a suspect adenoma on the Lleocecal valve . I’m hoping it’s the Sigmoid as I believe that might be a little more straightforward . So today will drag while I wait to see the team
HiTakayasu
So sorry to hear you ended up in hospital. Just what you were concerned about too .
Also sorry your biopsy was positive . Hope you have had a bit more information now and a plan for going forward .
Are you feeling any better ?
Take care and I hope you get home soon .

Hello court so yes the GP phoned me back yesterday afternoon and sent me to A and E . I arrived and they suspected and infection or bug but I was also tachycardia so they said I would be kept in . The colorectal chap came to see me so I have a bit more info . I have a Adenocarcinoma in the sigmoid and the polyp they removed last Monday showed cancer cells at the base to will need surgery to remove the sigmoid . Once it’s removed they will them tell me the rest . He has ordered a ct of the abdomen pelvis and chest and as I’m here in hospital it should be tomorrow - then I can go home . The MDT meeting is on Fridays.he said I might not make the list this Friday if they don’t have the ct results . Cancer services at Bedford are fully operational so that’s reassuring. I knew deep down that a pet scan often doesn’t lie so had a fair idea that the biopsy would be positive. I’ve sent an email to my neurologist to thank him for finding it - as goodness only knows how much further down the line it would of been found . I’m 49 and yes have had bowel changes for 2 years ( constipation) my recent Takayasu diagnosis had kind of taken over
thank you , I’ve been told surgery to remove the sigmoid . I now wait for the results of the MDT meeting . I’ve got a ct tomorrow
Incident finding for sure and a life saving one at that . We have always been grateful my mum completed one of the first bowel screens rolled out in our area . She had absolutely no symptoms. So glad it’s been picked up and you will get the treatment you need .
Also delighted to hear your cancer services are all operating through this period . So sad for some hospitals , staff and patients.
Worthwhile staying in to get the CT carried out . That is all moving extremely fast for you .
Nice of you to thank your neurologist.
Stay safe ,
