I’m home - feeling tender . The Endoscopy department has had a bit of disruption since my last visit 2 weeks ago definitely the effects of covid .
It felt like quite a lengthy procedure . The Surgeon managed to remove most of the large Polyp in my Sigmoid . He also removed 3 from various other places and took a biopsy from the ileocecal valve area . Everything will be sent off . The report reads the Polyp will need removal with EMR if histology confirmative of adenoma. If it is not adenoma then flexi sigmoidoscopy in 12 weeks to assess completeness of sigmoid polyp excision .
I’m thinking it sounds hopeful? Maybe 50/50 ?
Hi Takayasu,
I had a sigmoid tumour which was cancer so ended up with a sigmoid resection back in september, all has gone well and bowel seems to be working well considering the operation therefore i just wanted to reassure you that even if you have bad news its not the end of the world and can be fixed, hope all goes well

ive just read ur profile - coincidentally I had a Pet scan that proved I had a rare disease called Takayasu but also found a primary suspect sigmoid cancer - hence a sigmoidoscopy 2 weeks ago where they found a 2.3cm polyp and the full colonoscopy and polypctomy I had yesterday . I must say the surgeon didn’t give too much away just said the polyp would be sent off. Did your pet scan result that led to the sigmoidoscopy seem fairly conclusive ? I’m feeling very positive this morning that I can cope with whatever is to follow - tbh the Takayasu is a vile ideas W to have and I’m very much in active disease so reckon I’m a tough old( young) bird
Hi Takayasu,
Yes pet scan result led to sigmoidoscopy where they took biopsy of tumour, then was booked in for full colonoscopy after which they said rest of colon was clear but tumour was cancer which was what i was expecting tbh
Good luck with your journey
