Hi All
I had my scan last Wednesday and am still waiting for the results. I phoned the CT department yesterday and they said the report had gone to my surgeon. I spoke to his secretary, who said she’ll print it off and pass it on to him. Do these people not realise how stressful it is waiting?!

Have you had your results yet? I was lucky that my tumour shrank by around a third. Fingers crossed for good results for you.
Hi both,
I had a call earlier in the week, there had not been any shrinkage but my oncologist said that it may still be inflammation from the radiotherapy as I had a CT scan just 5 weeks after I had finished radiotherapy He said that tumours swell up before the cells die and start to shrink. When I was half way through the radiotherapy they told me that scans don't usually happen until 2-3 months after treatment finishes for optimum results, but for some reason he decided to scan me early.
They are discussing me at the MDT meeting this week. When he called me I don't think he had fully studied the results as he put me on hold for few minutes while he read them. I think they had only just come through.
He said that I would probably be sent for a PET scan to see if this is the case. If not he wants me to have immunotherapy.
Again, I am waiting for someone to contact me.
Take care xxx
Hi
Things get so rushed around Christmas in oncology . They often squeeze things in but it’s a bit of a shame they did not wait a few more weeks . I have seen people refer to that a lot regarding the inflammatory issues . Hopefully it will all settle soon ! It makes sense too!
Hope you hear soon .
The waiting is tough on the old nerves !!
Hope your doing ok within yourself.
Take care ,

Thank you all,
Its a bit of a worry, but hopefully it will work out. Feeling very nervous and disappointed that it didn't show shrinkage.
Thank you for your kind wishes all, hope you get good results @Jools63 and Gemmary and that you don't have to wait too long.
How is your mum doing court
Take care all

Hi
Totally understand you wished the reassurance of shrinkage . I think that is only human but cancer research states it can still be working 6-8 weeks after treatment stops . So I totally see why that area can still be inflamed. I noticed they are or were doing research to see if the operation should be after that time scale to get the optimum benefit .
However I hear what your saying about the whole waiting longer and the impact that has on your wellbeing . It’s far from easy to actually go through that process . Don’t forget you had covid too with is a bit of an inflammatory process in itself .
Still holding out that the area settles and gives you good news . I noticed your oncologist would like to pursue immunotherapy if required . For some cell types in America that is now first line treatment and not chemo . Seems they are getting better results than chemo so now going straight to it .
Hold on tight. Sounds as though your oncologist has a good plan there .
Mum is doing fine . Needing out a bit more but not complaining . Just accepting the situation as it is but looking forward to better days when she certainly plans to do so much more .
You take special care and hold onto what your oncologist stated .

Hi
Sorry your results were disappointing. I know they told me that the reason they don’t operate until 3 months after chemo/radiotherapy, is that the treatment continues to work even when it’s finishedFingers crossed that is the case. I had a petscan, but I’m pretty sure it was before treatment. Waiting makes all of it more difficult. I won’t gave any fingernails left soon. Try and keep your spir
s up, and I will too.
It’s already been the maximum number of days they told me. Unfortunately, as they are very busy my surgeon hasn’t looked at my results yet. It’s very stressful. I’m just grateful that I had my cancelast year. I can’t imagine how much worse it is for everyone this year. My heart goes out to every single one of you.
