Hiya i'm new here.
I'm Tyler a 54 year old man living in York. have just been diagnosed with bladder cancer and i'm booked in for TURBT procedure and immunotherapy.
They haven't done a biopsy and looked under the microscope as yet to identify the grade and stage . They saw 5 tumours. 4 are papillary and the other is CIS. My bloods are all in range. Awaiting results of CT scans.
It was shocking to hear but mentally/emotionally i think i'm doing OK. Kind of up and down. I think it will be better when i know more about what type grade as i'm worrying about unknows at the moment.
Thanks for listening - i'm heading to the coast with my dog now so will check in later.
Hi Tyler
Sorry that you’ve found yourself here. I’m just down the road in Leeds - I was 52 a couple of years ago when my bladder cancer was discovered. As others have said the good news is that bladder cancer is treatable. I had CIS & a large tumour - the large tumour was removed via TURBT with histology afterwards.
You’ll have an appointment 2-3 weeks after your TURBT to discuss treatment options (my journey is under my profile if you’re interested). Probably worth keeping away from the internet apart from reputable sources of information. I recommend the Action Bladder Cancer website (very useful information on treatment options depending on your histology results). I would also recommend bringing somebody along with you to that appointment - there will probably be a fair bit of information given then.

Macmillan also has very good documents on Bladder Cancer which you can download.
Gareth’s suggestion of taking someone in with you is a good idea as it’s easy to forget what was said or get outside and think ‘if only I had asked that’ Jot down any questions you think of and then you can take those in with you and note the answers. An extra pair of ears is helpful.I took my sister in and she asked questions too.Jane
