Hi,
I remember back to 2017 and about 6-8 weeks sounds about right. After the initial cystocopy in late Feburary I had a scan and a number of bloods tests an pre ops before the actual TURBT in early May.
After a final diagnosis in May (three weeks after the TURBT) I was referred to Barts. I finally had an RC in early October after having three rounds of Chemo.
Now all treatments are different and your Medical Team will discuss it all with you, but the point I am making is: don't be too concerned about the time lapse. Obviously, you want it all over and done with asap, but the treatment road isn't Silverstone, it's more a ride in the countryside. If you are over concerned (who isn't) try contacting your Specialist Nurses, or talk to one of the experts on this site.
Keep posting.
I know it's not all about me, the 6 - 8wks timeframe does seem to be standard. Once you clear that, you'll get all the treatments you need lined up. Remember, you can challenge politely the NHS, and, if you are not happy with the way a hospital is treating you, you can ask your GP to refer you somewhere else.
I did that, moved my care from an uncommunicative QA Hospital, near Portsmouth to the Royal Surrey in Guildford, who are, well, just communicative and fantastic.
Keep on keeping on.
Simon
6-8 weeks sounds about right to me.I was marked down as urgent and had the cystectomy a month after meeting the surgeon.
Hi Anyastar, I can hear the pain in your voice , and want to remind you of something you posted earlier after your turbt. I think you said your urologist thinks you will do well . Hold on to that thought, it will help in battling the thoughts that give you a sick feeling. I was thinking about you several times yesterday and I am cross with myself that I didnt message you. The waiting is really hard and I know from my own experience that I can go from positive to doom in a heartbeat. Hold on my lovely, keep your strengtth up and be kind to yourself. One day at a time Anyastar. Much love to you Angela xx
Much love Angela x
Ah Thanks Angela you always make me feel better with your response , Next week I have 2 more appointments on the same day, Thats all I seem to be doing, I'm worrying as my back has been aching for the first time I'm not sure it is the cancer or the extra weight I am carrying as I'm comfort eating, I have been offered Chemo but I worry it will do me more harm than good Lv xx Anya
Hi Winkers60
I have not met my surgeon yet,I got a phone call last Friday from consultant medical staff discussing Health and the operation which could be in 6-8 weeks! He said there will be 3 surgeons doing my operation, He suggested chemo would help yet my urologist said maybe only would help about 3 1/2 % being a solid tumour! What stage is urgent Anya x
