I would love to hear from women who have had treatment

  • Hi LiRoss,I was wondering how you are ? I hope you are ok.Love Jane xx

  • Hi all i have not been on for while folks. No major upsets but as well as bladder cancer i have only 1 kidney for 50 years now but its function is down to 38 which aint too bad but infections last few weeks and i am bit worn out.I have had 2 turb ops to remove 1 tumour then 3 tumours also had horrendoes time with fire inside but was given 8 weeks laruril mineral treatment which made massive relief and now in few weeks i get 3 top up BCG and praying it doesnt kill the good of the larulil .I am so blessed to talk to you all cos it really helps us all.I am praying every day for all on this site and others who are starting this journey.Bless you all and keep strong xx

  • My sister had turbt procedure Friday with epidural  she said it was overwhelming in the theatre so many staff but all so reassuring it went well and she was home by teatime STurday was a good day but today not so very uncomfortable as she has a catheter in for 7 days but she is up and about drinking and peeing as much as she can.Her tip I am to tell you if you have a catheter in to go home with make sure you get "day catheter bags so much easier to handle" She hops to be here on hear in 2 weeks with good news. Best of luck have faith it's over and done with soonxx

  • Hi Jane,

sorry for the delay in answering, I’ve been feeling really down recently. Don’t feel like I’m getting any better for some reason, I just seem to have stopped progressing, which is annoying me as my mind wants to do alsorts, but my body will only let me walk as far as the gate before I get so tired I feel sick! Xxx sorry for the moan xxx

  • Hugs,I was exactly the same,it is immensely frustrating. You do have to listen to your body and rest.I hope you are managing to eat and drink ok ? I think most of us went through a low spell during the recovery. It does get better mentally and physically.Love Jane xx

  • Hi Sunshine forever, wishing your sister the best news. She is lucky to have a sister like you to support her. x

  • Thank you, it’s so frustrating isn’t it? You start recovering, seeing differences almost daily, then suddenly it’s like a massive dry spell! Feel like I have hit a brick wall!! And the menopause… don’t get me started on that! Nightmare xxx

  • She honestly says that once in hospital she felt safe and more relaxed as the staff are so kind explaining step by step she was terrified of the epidural  but says cold cleaning spray was the worse part the rest was fine and the bonus being that as she was awake she could hear everything that was said

So has no unfounded fears to worry about. As she said no point in worrying about biopsies  now  all "treatments ahead " is in motion and each stage dealt with.

I think her biggest worry for her was the actual waiting as you have no control over that now she feels she is now in safe hands.

So again she says have faith and ask as many questions as you need to.

Can I point out all this is been dictated by her whilst she is reclining on the sofa feet up scoffing my choccy bits one bossy sister!

Bless you all and keep the laughter goingxx

  • Hi LiRoss, I haven't had a cystectomy but I had a hysterectomy 28 years ago when a youth of 47, and I felt exactly as you describe for after least 6 weeks after the surgery. After two weeks I tried to walk round the local flat urban park and had to stop and rest on every bench we passed. Previously I had jogged round every morning with the dog. I recovered gradually and returned to work after 3 months, though even then I had to ease myself back in gently. I recall bursting into tears every evening when I got home after a working day for the first couple of weeks. Major surgery takes time to heal. All you can do is be gentle on yourself, the main hurdle is over, you will get there. Sending love Hx
