well I finally had the cystoscopy (1st time I had an infection and was hospitalised for three days) and I’ve got a large necrotic mass on the left bladder wall towards the bottom of the bladder and a possible tumour on my urethra opening (which is the painful bit that made me seek help in the beginning due to spasms etc). I’m wondering if anyone has had this at all? Obviously I couldn’t help asking dr google (big mistake) and now I’m panicking. They’ve given me the contact details for cancer nurses and getting me in for a TURBT + EAU + meteal biopsy. I’ve got a CT scan on Wednesday and worried sick it’s travelled.
Hi LiRoss,Welcome to the group.I’m sorry to hear you had a bad infection.Hopefully your symptoms will get easier once the mass is removed.Biopsies will be taken and then comes the bit everyone hates the waiting for results.Once the results are back then you will know what treatment you will need.I can empathise with the spasms as they are painful.I used to get them a lot as I had Interstitial cystitis for over 30 years before bladder cancer.Feel free to ask any questions here as there is a wealth of experience.People tend to feel better once they have a treatment plan.I hope your CT scan goes well.Best wishes Jane
Hi,They may be able to do something to help when you have the TURBT.I’ve had the bladder neck widened in the past which helped.I had a rarer type of cancer so I had bladder removal but live a full life.I’m free of all the terrible pain and recurrent infections caused by chronic Interstital cystitis.Love Jane
Do you have supportive family and friends ? I think most of us remember how worrying these early days can be.I was terrified when I joined this group but hearing about peoples experiences who had been through surgery really helped. If you have to have chemo or radiotherapy there is advice and support here too.Love Jane
I had a radical cystectomy.I found the recovery harder than the surgery but I was on my own during the first lockdown so I did get depressed.Everyone on here was supportive though and that helped me through it.If you can keep busy while you are waiting for the results then that will help.
If you have a tumour at the opening then they should be able to remove it.I don’t know if they still do bladder neck stretches.I had mine many years ago.I had a solid tumour right at the top of the entrance to the bladder which was causing an obstruction.I had most of it removed during the TURBT and this did help with the spasms.I hope it will be the same for you.Love Jane
