This time last year I was recovering from bowel surgery. The other day I had a bladder tumour removed (TURBT). I'm reliably informed that the two are not linked but it does feel a bit like it!
The operation was on Tuesday (today's Friday) I think the pain of going for a pee is getting better. What is it that causes the sensitivity? Is it the chemicals that are put in the bladder or could it be the scope?
It's all happened quickly. I spotted blood in my pee on July 9th and had the tumour removed August 5th - obviously hoping that it's been caught quickly and trying not to obsess about the analysis of the removed tumour.
Hi bilkofan
Going to the toilet will get easier over the coming days. The blood in my pee disappeared after a few days although I was still going quite often.
There is a lot of scraping on stuff that goes on during a turbt. The biopsy from the turbt will be sent away for analysis and then a pathway will be arranged for you. Hope you Don't have long to wait.
Best wishes
Mark
Hi Bilkfan,
Welcome to this friendly forum.
After my first TURBT I found it took a couple of weeks to settle down. Although I was peeing the occasional blood and clots etc for a little longer. Always a bit shocking to see debris in the loo after a wee.
I think the pain is caused by the catheter used when doing the TURBT, it's quite large compared to normal catheters.
I had to have two TURBTS before my diagnosis and this is fairly common, but hopefully you won't need. If you do don't be alarmed.
Hoping that things improve for you soonest.
Keep us posted.
Trevor
Hi Bilkofan,Welcome to our friendly group.
Hopefully the irritation will lessen with time. You need to drink plenty of fluids after a TURBT.This will help to flush out any debris in the bladder and calm the irritation. Most people on here find lemon barley water helpful.I hope you find the group helpful and supportive.Best wishes Jane
