well I finally had the cystoscopy (1st time I had an infection and was hospitalised for three days) and I’ve got a large necrotic mass on the left bladder wall towards the bottom of the bladder and a possible tumour on my urethra opening (which is the painful bit that made me seek help in the beginning due to spasms etc). I’m wondering if anyone has had this at all? Obviously I couldn’t help asking dr google (big mistake) and now I’m panicking. They’ve given me the contact details for cancer nurses and getting me in for a TURBT + EAU + meteal biopsy. I’ve got a CT scan on Wednesday and worried sick it’s travelled.
I’m so sorry to hear you are in so much pain.I do empathise I was in tremendous pain before the TURBT and bladder removal. It’s important you drink enough fluids even just small sips throughout the day.The pain will be worse if the urine gets too concentrated and acidic.I really hope the TURBT will alleviate some of the pain.
Hi,It’a usual to have scans as follow up after cystectomy.I was supposed to be going onto annual scans but the most recent one showed a problem with my kidneys.I’ve been relatively ok since the surgery.8 months post op I was able to resume caring for my elderly disabled mother.Since mum’s death nearly a year ago I have been clearing the family house ready for it to be sold.I have a stoma but manage well with it.Love Jane x
The radiographer phoned and said the kidneys were swollen and not working as well as they should be.I have a urology phone appointment next month so should know more then. It’s been really difficult getting any information from the hospital since the pandemic.I have a specialist nurse but she is not very helpful.I used to get copies of my hospital letters but that seems to have stopped recently.I shall have to find out why.Sorry to hear about your mum too it is hard when you have nursed them.Mum had a brain haemorrhage in 2004 and I nursed her from 2004 until I got cancer in 2019.Mum was in respite care while I recovered from the surgery.I looked after her from June-Nov 2020 and then she became Ill and went into hospital. She was back and forth between hospitals finally spending her last year in a nursing home.It was not the end I wanted for mum but her dementia was so advanced that she needed more care than I could provide.I miss her terribly,we were very close.Love Jane xx
Wow I hope everything is ok with your kidneys, have the given an idea of what it could be? Xxx mum was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, had double mastectomy in 2014 and it came back to her bones and sadly she passed away in 2015. I’ve never really got over it (I don’t think anyone does to be fair). As soon as I’ve found out I’ve got cancer I don’t seem to be able to get her experience out of my head unfortunately xxx it seems like we’re in a deep dark depressing hole where we’re not in control of what’s going on or going to happen to our bodies xxx
Oh that must be difficult.I found it very hard to get the image of mum’s final days out of my head but they are starting to be replaced with happier memories.I am wondering if my kidney problem is a late complication of the surgery. They are not obstructed apparently.Once you have the biopsy results back you will have a clearer idea of what will happen.X
