I had rad cystectomy Oct 2020 thank god I'm OK but feel guilty using this site as I'm in remission. I'm sorry
Hi Dublin and welcome to the group. Good to know you are doing OK after your RC. Please do not feel guilty being here. We know that cancer does not just stop after being cleared. It stays with us for a long time, which is why many of us have hung around here for years. Remission is a medical term, but emotions and doubts will persist. Lots of experience here, so feel free to ask any questions or just have a chat if you feel the need. Best wishes.
Dublin. You have the right to use this site as you are a member of a special club. As well as using the site for your own comfort, you can use your own experience to help and reassure others heading down the same road. Best wishes.
Hi Dublin and welcome, whatever the ideas you had/have about feeling guilty and the right to come on this site. My husband has had bc and was stunned at the offer of RC -for him it was not the right answer- he is now all clear with checks 6 monthly. However there is a likely chance another recurrence will crop up sooner or later. In the meantime I enjoy reading people's posts and offering any relevant tips and experience as the occasion comes by. I know I get support here even though he's clear at the moment and so can you. We're all different, for me personally the issues can be about caring, and I've certainly had lots of support around that.
So no need for guilt, really. Denby
Hi Dublin, as others have said, definitely no need to feel guilty on this site. We have members in your situation who no doubt will be along to reassure you. I didn’t have a cystectomy but had several reoccurrences after I was first diagnosed in 2017. This site provides emotional support, particularly when you are coming up to scans, six monthly checks which I am sure you will be having. We also have chatty catch ups which are not cancer related, it provides light relief and quite often we have a laugh.
I’ve been clear now for 18 months but still find this site invaluable so welcome from me too.
Best wishes Luce
Hi Dublin
You must not feel guilty. I too am in remission and still stay with this fab forum.
I am here also to share my experience.
You have nothing to feel guilty about so stop beating yourself up. Welcome to the forum
