Hi am 6 weeks post OP,I need help getting my head around this, can anyone help x
Hi and welcome to the group. We know that a cancer diagnosis can bring on many emotions and uncertainties. There are many of us here who have been through what you are going through and lots of experience here to answer any questions. Have you had any follow up after your op? The more info you can give as to where you are up to, the more we can help. Best wishes.
Hi again . It sounds as though your op was one called a TURBT (trans urethral resection of bladder cancer). It is the standard op we all go through and the first part of the treatment. They remove as much of the tumours as they can, if not all. The mitomycin is to mop up any rogue cells to stop them getting in to the system. Biopsies will be taken and will give a stage and grade. The stage (T) is how far advanced the cancer is and the grade (G) determines how aggressive the cells are. The results determine the next stage of treatment. Sorry if this is too much information. The next stage is usually a consultation with your doctors to discuss a treatment plan. Just to reassure you, many of us have been there and know how you are feeling. Please use this forum to ask any questions, or just talk about it if you want to. You are not alone here. Best wishes.
This diagnosis can be so overwhelming...I was diagnosed with bladders cancer in February after a turbt operation i have just completed 6 weeks of bcg treatment and waiting to have another procedure to check on my bladder .. I have been so anxious and worried not been able to eat or enjoy life as I usually do but I have sat down and thought about how many other people are dealing with illnesses like this and just trying their best to get on with things and enjoy their lives .. I have found lots of encouragement and support from the lovely people on the forum ..they are always ready with advice when you have a problem ..please try not to worry too much about the future just try to take one day at a time and enjoy all around you xx sending you best wishes keep positive love Tina
Hi,
Just add to rily, your next stage will be a consult after your biopsy results come back. By then your medical team should know the extent of your cancer.
In my case I had a CT before TURBT, so they knew it hadn't spread outside of bladder, but the biopsy will determine the next stage.
I know it's worrying and you can feel very alone becsuse it's new to you and your family and it's difficult to know where to turn.
Use this site and particularly the Nurses and try to see this as a first step in a journey. The first step is always the hardest, but hopefully the end will be good
Everyone on this site have been where you are at the moment. I was diagnosed four years ago and I have bern cancer free all that time and my prognosis is good.
Hi.
Ok, so have they set a date for your next consult?
