Hi folks, difficult night and all day. Nausea and dehydration and significant headache. Any advice on how to manage this would be helpful

  • Hi  and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear you are not feeling too good. I see from your post in the New to community Group you have had some sound information from . I can only echo what Mike says about dehydration. We know dehydration causes headaches. As bladder cancer patients we are recommended to drink between 2-3 litres of water a day. As well as flushing out any chemo toxins, it helps the bladder by flushing any debris out, and also keeps the kidneys working. If you find it difficult to take water alone, you can add some mild flavouring. Some people recommend a touch of lemon barley water. If you could give us some background in to where you are and what treatment you are having, others may be able to offer further advice. As always though, it is important to let your team know how you are. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

Hi  thank you for response. I am 60 yrs old and diagnosed In Feb with bladder and kidney cancer. Most of tumour removed Feb and started chemo GemC on 23rd March. This is in preparation for surgery to remove kidney and bladder.  Not been sick, but so nauseated and I do think drinking is key but difficult. Much improved night. Can you tell me how you felt with additional chemo wk 2. I am due this tomorrow

  • Hi . I wasn't too bad with the Gem/Cis. I was given 2 types of anti sickness pills. The second week is usually a much shorter session than the first. I hope all goes well for you. Best wishes.
