Hi everyone,
Hi Lavitaebella. Interesting podcast. May help people understand grades and stages by listening, rather than reading about it. The thing I picked out is that the skill of the surgeon doing the initial TURBT could determine future treatments. He alluded to some doctors are not as good as others at removing as much tumour as possible, sometimes done by junior doctors. Saying that, it is a USA site and here, my TURBTS were all done by consultants. Best wishes.
Apologies, I posted the wrong link!
This is the video on neo-adjuvant, I hope
I thought the title didn't add up. I'll catch up on that one later. Back on the grandaughter school run now.
Sorry about that, Rily. That podcast was also interesting, however
here is the link to Part 2 of the new-adjuvant video, with particular interest re the bio-markers
Hi. So picking the bones out of the piece. He explains the reason for chemo with cystectomies. Bladder removal on its own is not guaranteed to eliminate cancer from the body. Prior to removal, rogue cells may have already escaped and lying dormant somewhere else in the body and can kick off at a later date. Chemo is designed to destroy these rogue cells, and help prevent future issues. I had neoadjuvant chemo prior to my radiotherapy for the same reason. Best wishes.
Yes, very interesting. I didn’t know about the microscopic cells (my husband did - typical, he failed to tell me what the consultant said!).
My husband started his chemotherapy today. Feels like a he’s taken a first big step. He feels ok tonight, but I’m sure he may feel a bit a bit rougher over the next few days.
So glad he's started the treatment...it now feels something is being done we have to keep going forward even though we're bound to have bad days but hopefully with restrictions being lifted and summer coming we will all feel much more positive xx I hope you are keeping well xx sending you a big hug xx
Thank you Hou Lisa. Yes,you are right. It does feel better that he is now being treated. It’s early days but he seems ok, today at least. He is complaining of being a bit tired. He looks pale, but hoping the side effects won’t affect him too much Good tip from Rily about the anti nausea medication I’m making sure he takes it regularly
Btw, Does anyone know whether he can take a multi vitamin? He is drinking loads of water
x
Hi how are things with you xx hope hubby's treatment going OK.. I had my 2nd bcg treatment on Wednesday all good bit more painful this week on ending my peeing but I drank loads of water and that seemed to do the trick x have you had a date for the operation yet .. I hope you are feeling bit stronger now it is so hard for the ones who's loved ones are dealing with this .. you just want them to be well again and not to have to go through all this ... next year you'll be looking back on this and thank God it was all sorted I have my mother's funeral on Tuesday another anxious time but she was 88 and had a lovely life till alzeimers set in .. I hope the day will be fine as only 30 people allowed to funeral and many will have to stand outside xx take care and look after yourself you need all your strength for coming months.. hope the support groups were a help for you xxlove Tina xx
Hi Hou. Tina. Nice to hear from you.
My husband had his second treatment yesterday. He is feeling more tired and nauseous this time, which he’s finding disappointing, but he has a break now for two weeks so will give him time to recover. Thinking about this time next year is a lovely, positive way of looking at this period. Thank you
I’m glad your BCG is going ok. Hopefully you won’t have any major problems. I’m telling my husband to drink lots of water too. It’s such a shame more won’t be able to attend your mum’s funeral, but hopefully the sun will be shining for those who have to wait outside so you can give her a really good send off. Will be thinking of you
I’m attending a virtual Friends & Family virtual group today and FBC are hopefully fixing me up with a ‘buddy’, so hoping this will help with the bad days I need to be strong to support my husband
Hoping for more sunshine this weekend
