Hello everybody I haven’t posted for a while  since my operation to remove a small tumor last may at that time I was told I would be on the surveillance programme for five years at my first three month check there was two areas of concern in the bladder that required biopsy and several areas of damage to my urethra lots of cystoscopys over the years mostly kidney stones an enlarged prostate and malfunctioning bladder (chronic retension ) I came round a different surgeon informed me that he had not completed the biopsies as in his opinion they did not need biopsies I went for my twelve month check up and saw the same consultant where he discharged me from the surveillance programme back to me doctor telling me that if I have symptoms again to go to me doctor I tried to explain to him that I had no symptoms last time and that I was at urology to be informed that I have kidney stones again and that my dad  had bladder and prostate cancer and both removed in his early forties and my grandad had bladder and bowel cancer . I am just trying to find out if and how I can get back on surveillance I am really worried and feel  let down

  •  . Hi again Nigel. Sorry to hear your concerns. I know how regular follow ups may not be pleasant but I always look forward to them for reassurance. I think I would also be worried if my regular checks stopped. There are NICE guidelines which can be a bit of a grey area as diagnoses may not always be exact. Have you been allocated a CNS to call for advice ? Failing any medical advice you may like to get your own dipsticks. These are not failsafe and not to be relied on, but they can show early signs of blood or other problems which would trigger a sample to GP surgery for further investigation. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.
