Hi,
I was diagnosed with a high grade T1 or T2 cancer about 6 weeks ago now and am still awaiting total confirmation of which I have.
I've just had a second turbt to have biopsies and apparently have another 5 weeks to wait for treatment plans and results etc!
Feels like it's all taking forever!
I was interested in going to physical support group in the Brighton area but can't seem to find one that's specifically bladder cancer related?
Does anyone know of any at all?
I've looked online and used the Macmillan search but to no avail.
Can anyone suggest any helpful groups they've been/go to please.
You could try fightbladdercancer.co.uk or actionbladdercancer.org.uk to look for local support groups. There are also some urostomy groups (via Urostomy Association https://urostomyassociation.org.uk ) for those who have had bladder removed. It's also worth asking at your local hospital - once you have a consultation about treatment, you will probably be assigned a specialist nurse who should know what is in your area. Best wishes.
Hi Kitty.cs, a good CNS is the best possible support. They know the specifics of your case and can smooth the hospital path. I really hope yours will be a total magic marvel like mine. I bet there will be a Brighton local support group, we even have one in deepest Devon, though rather far for me to drive to these days. Sending you love and support at this difficult time. It happened to me nearly 8 years ago and I'm still here.....currently eating a dark chocolate Easter egg
Thankyou Herothedog!
It means a lot that there's peeps here to ask and understand what's going on!
Thanks for the support!
Hi, you could ask the Macmillan helpline re groups. I know that there is a bladder cancer group at the Macmillan Centre in UCL hospital in London which meets monthly I think and that people can access it online if that helps. I have been treated at UCLH but have never attended it because the timing doesn't work for me.
Good luck
Hi.
Thanks, I will do!
Brighton hospital has a 'Macmillan horizon centre' right by it so that was my next port of call.
Fingers crossed they have something available too!
Thanks again everyone for all the tips and ideas!
They've been really helpful and appreciated.
