Just a quick query. Wondered if anyone had any information on patients that have Ulcerative Colitis and also given BCG to treat bladder cancer. I have UC and also bladder cancer (recently diagnosed) which they are going to treat with BCG. My UC is in remission and I'm on a maintenance dose of Sulphsalazin.
I undestand that BCG kicks in the immune system and that UC is a disease of the immune system so I was expecting some trouble along the way. My Gastro specialist has asked to see me on 30th of April and I believe that will be after my first BCG dose.
Any advice orinfo will be gratefully received.
Thanks
Rob
I have Crohn’s disease and inject fortnightly my immune system is affected.I was diagnosed with CSI bladder cancer in June 24.I went through a lot with the hospital and basically urology and IBD wanted me to continue with injections and BCG then I got a second opinion and it confirmed i cant have BCG as i may contract TB.I am now under a different trust and having a combination of two chemos which i understand is the firsr time in the UK. I urge you check with the oncologist before you start treatment
Good Luck

Hi Jackmyboy
Thanks for your input. My meds are my maintence dose and only tackle inflamation and currently I'm in full remission. However, I am going to check before I take the BCG. Pretty sure my Gastro guy is wanting to discuss the same with me.
I've also had my TB inoculation way back when I was a kid.
Certainly checking beforehand.
Thanks
Rob
