Is it me? Does anyone else find patients listening to music and watching TV on their MOBILE PHONE SPEAKERS irritating,  especially at frisking g night.

  • Not just you Leo, I could never personally do that knowing it would annoy people.

Just wear headphones surely... although I'm sure it's not intentional, still annoying.

    I'm surprised it's allowed.

    Hope you're well.

  • Yes it’s bizarre. Guy on next bed has pulled the curtains and is busy vaping. What’s happened to our society.

  • Basically there's no respect anymore. Gradually went downhill from the 90's my friend. That vaping shouldn't be allowed especially on a ward.

  • Hi Leo,Definitely not just you, very annoying and the man vaping should be stopped.Sorry to hear you are in hospital.Jane

  • Hi Leo

Sorry to Read your in hospital Leo hope your home and recovering soon the vaping just blew my mind in what world is that ok in a hospital some people really are that self entitled

  • I saw an incredible cross section of humanity in the unit. Patients handcuffed to police, drunks, and many who cleaky did not priorisise wellness with predictable consequences. 3 patients with gangrene, one of whom sadly died. Patients sitting in hairs being treated, the waiting room stuffed with ill people day and night. And I was assured by the nursing staff that this was all normal.

It's bad enough being ill but all this adds to the stress.

The positives : I got a bed, the urology team and nurses were great, and I an heading hone.

  • Hi Leo

Sad state of affairs across the country unfortunately my friend. Yes the staff and nurses tend to be very good it's just the structure and system of the NHS that needs remodeling

    Glad your heading home Leo

    Best wishes

  • Good news Leo that you are going home. Stay well Garviv

  • It is annoying to be fair but the way of the world there days.

I would watch something short but with the volume as low as possible so that I could hear it without it bothering others too much, but certainly not constantly or prolonged. I'd use Bluetooth earbuds for that. Most phones don't have headphones sockets anymore so often can't even use wired headphones nowadays, Bluetooth ones only last a certain amount of time. The again I take lower backs with me so wouldn't have any of those issues to deal with and just out of respect would use earphones.

It's the same with people who insist on using loudspeaker on their phone calls in public, just why? It's bad enough when someone is shouting down their phone in public but to have it on loudspeaker in public is just odd.

Much love and hope to everyone past future and present.

I also hate autocorrect and hope people can make sense out of my posts when it changes half the words I type.

  • Simply making a call on the ward is pretty irritating too, always seems to be in a loud voice. My local hosp does have headphones available to use with their bedside radio/TV set up. They also supply eye masks & ear plugs!

It's generally pretty noisy all the time. Once I was in a side room opposite a store or some such - the door kept banging all night long.
