Hi fellow travellers - do any of you use the above forum and how do you find it?

  • I have used it in the past, but rarely drop in these days. Quite useful, plenty of friendly people of all ages, but I found there were too many unrelated pictures/videos (not subdivided into threads like here) clagging up the site. Also people posting 'can't answer your question but thinking of you LOL' which I found a bit annoying. They do monitor posts, but there have been some inappropriate recommendations for quack products/ controversial opinions.

The website is good, with lots of useful info.

Thanks for the information, ! It's disappointing to hear that there have been misleading posts made there in the past, but I hope they were dealt with swiftly by the page owners.

I just wanted to add that Fight Bladder Cancer is the official Facebook group of Fight Bladder Cancer UK, (it's linked from their website), and they do have registered charity status in England, Wales, and Scotland. You can see their official status on the UK Gov Charities Register here:

As per our Community Guidelines on external signposting, it's therefore fine to mention them on our forums. Even though an official group, visitors will still need to keep alert for misleading information, ideally aiming to get emotional support and practical tips only.

For reliable, checked, safe medical information, we always recommend consulting trusted sources who carry the PIF Tick, such as the NHS website, Cancer Research UK, and of course, ourselves.

    All the best,
    Matthew

  • Hi Leo,

I'm not on Facebook, I did join for a while but came off a few years ago. My wife does use it and joined a bladder cancer group when I was diagnosed, but I've no Idea if it's the same one you mentioned.

I'm on twitter, just to follow bands etc, but I'm not very into social media.

Sorry I couldn't help with your question.

  • Same here Trevor

    Much love Angela x

  • Good advice Matt. Users of Facebook should be aware that their data is stored outside the U.K., and in many if not all cases becomes the intellectual property of Meta. It can therefore be analysed and sold, literally, to the highest bidder.
