A bit of light relief while we are on this cancer journey, evoking memories, joys , passion and funny stories.  Its all here from prog rock, to punk rock and everything in between. Hope you book mark it and join in. Music can be a huge comfort in times of distress . It can also make you dance around the kitchen when no one is watching !  Add your stories. Recently chatted about Mr Halofan attending a YES concert, and it was really uplifting.

  • Another on my list of artists i love Garviv, you must be telepathic ! I was listening to the Transformer album last night !
enjoy yourself friend, have a little walk on the wildside today haha

    Much love Angela x

  • In reply to Mr Halofan, a lot of good bands have came out of Dundee my own www favourite are The Swiss Family Orbison, absolutely brilliant,  I know its a bit away from  my first love Prog, and talking about that I haven't seen any mention of Rush now there's a band

  • Not Dundee but Teenage Fanclub are not too shabby

  • Just heard from No 2 daughter that they are in Stockwood Park Luton at the Radio 1 Big Weekender about to see COLDPLAY!!! Wow will No 1 daughter be jealous.

Myself and OH, we go for jazz as in New Orelans, can't cope with modern at all, and Rock'n'roll. Have seen Jive Aces about four times, all with No 2 daughter who shares our tastes as well as her own. Used to love seeing Humphrey Lyttelton, [What a lovely man, he autographed daughter's programme with a cartoon when she was little] Kenny Ball, Alex Welsh... Not so Acker Bilk, saw him at The Stables, Wavendon [Dankworth's place near MK] and he swore foully at the paying audience all night.

  • I was at Reading in 79 mainly to see Hackett who was amazing also Gillan with John McCoy throwing his bass about,  and as per me I think I was the only person there to like Root Boy Slim

  • He was and I got to meet him and his brother after a gig in Bristol a few years later.

  • Hi Denby,Grew up with Classical music and Jazz.MJQ,Paul Desmond,Oscar Peterson and many others. My parents used to go to Jazz clubs in London in the late 50’s.

  • Hello Angela, Fabulous festival albeit slightly marred by a thunderstorm and rain at 6pm. Every pub and bar had live music or sounds. After a couple of drinks we wandered to the main stage and were nearly blasted back to Walton Le Dale by Nerve Agents a grunge/ metal band. In Wetherspoons we were treated to Pink Floyd/ Tom Petty/ Del Amitri songs from a nice guitarist. We went to the Library theatre where our granddaughter Seana sang songs from musicals put together by her music coach. With a microphone, backing music and a sound man she sang to an audience of about 50 people for 30 minutes. She is 11 years old. Beautiful voice and so assured. Tears of joy. Just as the Jets started their Rockabilly set the storm arrived. We dashed to the Bank( a bar) for drinks and food, entertained by an indie rock singer. Back at main stage Kevin Davey White and his group were belting out jazz/ rock/ blues .They finished with Lenny Kravitz’s Are you going my way. Wow so good!  8 pm time for grandchildren and grandparents to be going home. Such a perfect day. Garviv

  • Wow Garviv, what a wonderful experience to see your grand daughter singing at a music festival. Proud grand parents eh? All the various music venues sounds fab, particularly with a place to sit down and eat and drink out of rain. Does sound a perfect day. x

  • Hi Denby, I’m also a bit envious of daughter no 2. I’d love to hear Coldplay live. Great band with great values ref environment.
