Morning all. I'm new to this group. My husband has been diagnosed with small cell bladder cancer and is due to start chemo soon. It seems its a rare cancer to have in the bladder. Has anyone else any experience of this? Thanks.

  • Hey Di, give Mike a big hug and thumbs up. Sounds like the weekend was pretty traumatic. Hug to you too.

You are right, this small cell Cancer is a real bothersome nuisance. But good to hear to read there is a plan worked up to get Mike on the straight and level.

    Keep on keeping on Di

  • Thanks Simon, just picked him up from hospital. He seems a bit better - less pain and leg less swollen. But he's just gone for a lay down as he's so tired - you don't get a lot of sleep in hospital do you!

    Hope you're doing OK

  • Good morning, Thursday was chemo3 was Thursday, so final steroids tomorrow, then free falling to end of the month for chemo4, which unfortunately lands on the day my eldest gets back from being in South and Central America for a year, so she's being picked up by her younger sister!

This whole chemo stuff does whack you out at the strangest of times, and without any notice!

Hope you have a great weekend

  • Thanks Simon, you too.

Are you having radiotherapy after your chemo?

  • Yes, although I have a T4N1 inoperable bladder cancer, the PET scan showed it is still localised, so after chemo, radio it is. Then I expect the usual monitoring, etc.

  • Hi Di,Just wondering how you both are ? I hope  Mike is in less pain.Love Jane xx

  • Hi Jane

    Thanks for asking x

He's been in hospital since last Sunday - he developed a raging temp and I called an ambulance (eventually got sent after answering a million questions and waiting for a call back)

He's been on antibiotics for infection and also stronger blood thinners and water tablets for the dvt/swollen leg, plus stronger pain control.

He's picked up last couple of days, was very poorly earlier this week.

Radiotherapy is due to start tomorrow and hospital transport has been arranged - providing he feels well enough to go. Fingers crossed.

Hope all OK with you Jane x

  • Hi Di,I’m really sorry to hear Mike is so unwell. It must be so stressful for you both.I hope he feels better soon.I’m waiting for an update on my elderly uncle who is in hospital after falling down the stairs. He hadn’t been taking his antibiotics for a severe urine infection.Take care love to you both.Jane xx
