Hi Folks. I’m posting this just on the off chance that others might have the same “unusual happenings” as I’ve experienced over the past 12 weeks. I have had initial cystoscopy, an initial TURBT a second TURBT and am now waiting for the results of that. So about three days after the initial TURBT I noticed that I had a rash on the part of my body that quite honestly you don’t want a rash. Went to my GP who diagnosed trauma caused by the TURBT. Over the next week this rash got worse. I rang the hospital to see if this so say trauma was common. The hospital told me it wouldn’t be trauma and that it was probably thrush!! Ok cream applied but it got worse and I was getting really worried that my second TURBT would be delayed. Then a week before my second TURBT another rash appeared on my chest. This is an itchy burning type rash mainly on the top of my chest with traces on my stomach and back. At this stage I would like to point out that the last time I had a rash on my body was 60 years ago when I had chickenpox!! I have no allergies at all. Anyway the second TURBT went ahead and the consultant urologist came for a chat afterwards. So he told me that after only six weeks my tumour had returned and was now bigger, which was a bit of a shock. Anyone on here been told that before?
While he was with me he looked at my rashes. He said often a tumour will mess with your immune system and this could be the reason for them. He did prescribe a hydrocortisone cream for my initial rash and that has worked thank goodness. My GP has swabbed the rash on my chest and given me cream and I should have the results of that on Friday. If anyone wants any more details of these rashes I would be more than happy to pass on what I’ve learnt so far.
Hi Phil K . This type of rash does not come up on here very often, but I have read that some people do have this sort of reaction after anaesthetic. Hopefully the creams will sort you out. Have they given you any idea of what they are planning after your recurrence? Best wishes.
Hi Phil K, rotten for you to have to put up with an irritating rash when you've already got enough to deal with. Hopefully the creams will ease. Fortunately there are many different successful treatment options for bladder cancer, so I'm sure your MDT will come up with a plan that best suits you. I find this practice of collaborative group working by people with a range of expertise, very reassuring. Fingers crossed for you Hx
Hi Redwine40. As you can see I started this thread because of rashes that appeared on my body. The most noticeable one was across my chest stomach and back. The top of my chest looked like someone had spilt hot liquid on me. This rash is still unexplained. It first appeared between my two TURBTS and just after an MRI scan. My GP Couldn’t explain it. The GP prescribed a steroid cream that I have applied to the rash for the past two weeks. The rash is still there but does not look quite so fiery. Obviously the rash your mother has is a lot more serious than mine but I would really like to know what the dermatologist says. Good luck to you and your mother. Phil
