Hi,
I am from the kidney cancer group, caring for my partner who is currently hospitalised with a mystery infection.
Looking for some advice and hopefully reassurance. He had to have a catheter for a few days to monitor pee output etc. He was in terrible distress with spasms and pain which gave him severe rigor shaking. Experienced some bleeding as well.
Finally got the catheter removed and all was well for about a day. Now he’s become incontinent. He feels the urge to pee and can’t control the flow as soon as he stands up. Sometimes has slight vowel incontinence as well.
Any advice? Has anyone here experienced similar after a catheter? All was fine and normal before it was inserted. We are hoping this is temporary!
Thanks for reading!

Hi Eskay. We know that catheters can cause some form of urinary problems, but these tend to clear up after a while. Bowel problems are rarely connected to catheters. Do you know if your partner's urine has been tested for any infections which can happen with catheters. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
