Things are progressing since being told that I need a RC pronto. I’m feeling more at ease having seen a Stoma nurse. Today went to a support group meeting and it was good to see others thriving after going through what I’m about to.
My surgery is booked in for the 29 October and the surgeon estimates around 5 to 6 hours worth. Having a PET scan tomorrow to see if there’s anything else amiss. Fingers crossed it’s contained within the bladder.
I was diagnosed with a T1 high grade macro papillary tumour hence the recommendation to have a RC straight up.
I am somewhat scared, but resigned to the fact that it has to happen and will fight it with all I can and hopefully stay positive.
wish me luck
Dave
Hi Dave, wishing you luck for your scan tomorrow, and in preparation for surgery. Glad to hear you have a face to face support group. Seeing with our own eyes, others who are doing good, really helps. Nothing wrong with getting scared, that's one thing this group all understand. Keep us posted on your progress. sending love Hx
Thanks for the support it’s appreciated. Well had my PET CT scan today and got the good news that the cancer hasn’t spread outside the bladder. So relieved to hear that. It’s the first bit of good news so far, and it feels like a bit of weight has been lifted off our shoulders.

Good news Dave. We love steps in the right direction! Fortunately bladder cancer is very treatable and there are many many different treatment strategies. My cancer was Grade 2 T1, diagnosed in 2017. 27 doses of BCG and 5 years later, I'm still enjoying my life with my family. Fingers crossed for you. x
It’s always a relief to get good petscan results. I’ve also had my bladder removed as part of larger surgery, and this group has lots of kind and supportive people who will be able to help you through with any questions. Good luck for your upcoming surgery.
Sarah xx
Hi Dave
I have been in exactly the same position you are in now I too resigned myself to it and remained positive which is a great plus if you can. Basil my stoma and I have been together for 2.5 years and life is great. It's a long road to recovery so don't beat yourself up, listen to your body and drink loads of water..
Love Inanna x
