My husband has had his latest cystoscopy which showed up four growths in his bladder again so was told he will be in hospital within two weeks. Surgeon wanted him in next week but couldn’t get a cod test done beforehand. This forum has been invaluable over the past five years and I had hoped I wouldn’t need it again but we knew it was back as he was bleeding so much and having trouble passing
rine. I didn’t get in with him this time to discuss what next due to covid restrictions. I would be so grateful if anyone can give any advice as to how many times these growths can be scraped away a
they said the bladder wall was badly scarred the last time and they unfortunately punctured the bladder in two places last time. He is terrified of the same thing happening as he went on to develop
psis afterwards. Thanks for any advice
Hi Roxy204, I have wondered myself about repeated scraping, cauterising etc. So far my team have done all my 5 (original tumour 2017 and 4 others since then) TURBTs without any damage. Because of regular cystoscopies, reoccurrence is usually very early stage therefore less invasive surgery required I think. Sorry your husband had such a bed experience last time, and definitely should be offered some information and reassurance. Does he have a Clinical Nurse Specialist? I was allocated mine at my initial diagnosis meeting and she has been incredibly reassuring when I have felt anxious about something. So worrying when you are waiting, but sounds like his surgeon is getting things rolling if within two weeks. I think I have waited about 30 days from discovery each time. Sending best wishes Hx
Appreciate your reply Herothedog. He has never been given an assigned nurse. His first tumour was very large and due to the lengthy wait time for surgery he was sent to a private hospital under the Nhs. He was given One dose chemo the following day then saw the consultant just for the results. Next time he was sent to another hospital for the op where two were removed. Only nurse he saw consistently was the nurse giving his six weekly chemo sessions last time. I wish they would assign someone you could ask questions to. I am surprised how quickly they say they will operate with all the backlog and hope this is not a worrying factor x
