Hi.
My dad was diagnosed on Friday with bladder cancer. He had 2 scans and has his operation to remove the cancerous growths on Xmas eve. Then hell find out what stage is it and where we go from there.
No point to my post just needed to tell someone as I haven't told anyone apart from my husband as I feel guilty telling anyone.
Thank you for reading.
Hi Starlightglimmer and welcome to the group, although sorry to hear about your dad. It must be a worrying time for you. Firstly, bladder cancer can be treated successfully. Bad timing, but good to know things are moving quickly for dad. Hopefully your dad may be out the same day, or maybe an overnight stay depending on what time he goes down. He will be in a bit of discomfort for a few days, but should be able to get around ok. As you say, there is then a wait to find out the next step. Always someone here to answer any questions or to just chat if you want. Best wishes.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I'm very grateful.
Welcome to the group.I hope your dad’s operation goes well.Best wishes Jane
Hi Starlightglimmer, there are quite a few people o here with recent diagnosis, so rest assured your dad is not alone.
There are many kind and considerate people on here. So there will always be someone to either seek advice or just share experiences with.
I recently had my tumors removed on my 35th wedding anniversary! Stayed overnight and just experienced discomfort for a few days. But we all react differently.
Hope things go well later in the week for your dad.
Regards
Colin
Hi Starlightglimmer, great that your dad is getting treated so quickly. We understand the waiting between appointments, results, treatment decisions is tough. Sounds like you have a clear understanding of the next steps. I was introduced to my clinical nurse specialist at the meeting when I was told grade and stage.I found her in put helpful thinking through next steps. Lots of us here have been in your dad's position and still trucking along years later. Best wishes. x
Thabk you. Hope your treatment is going well.
Welcome to the group. It's great that things are moving quickly. I found it difficult to comprehend it at first - June last year; it's a shock to start with. Your Dad is likely to feel quite tired to begin with after the op., if he is like I was. Help him to follow what his body tells him to do; in my case, rest a lot! In time, being positive is a good way to help the body heal.
I hope the operation goes well.
