Not wishing to hijack other threads on this subject, but I was wondering whether there is a connection between back pain and BC.
Prior to my diagnosis I had experienced discomfort in my back for about 3 months and then had what appears to have been a trapped nerve episode, which started the investigations/tests that found my BC.
I have spoken to many friends who know other people with BC, and a number have had similar experiences starting with their back.
There appears to be a number of back sufferers posting on here, and just wondered if there is a known link.

Colins1960. Hi Colin. We know that lower back pain is one of the symptoms of bladder cancer, especially when it is advanced. The pain radiates backwards towards the kidneys. I had severe pain in the kidney area prior to my first TURBT. Thankfully, the pain subsided after my op. Best wishes.
Thanks Rily, mine is in the lower back and triggers a severe burn sensation in my left buttock if I get up quickly or lean forwards.
Maybe it's a trapped nerve, but all appears far too coincidental.

Colin
Hi Colin,Shortly before diagnosis I had severe back pain around the kidneys and lower back. This improved after the cystectomy. Now I’m in hospital with spinal cord compression but a scan has shown there is no cancer and it’s all due to osteoarthritis.Love & best wishes Jane x
Hiya Coln just wondering how you are getting on
Regards C
Hi C, I am doing good... so far and really don't want to tempt fate!
I finished the initial course of 6 BCG just before new year and apart from a few days of discomfort it all passed without major incident.
I have had a further biopsy which showed the the previous BCG had been successful. I have now just started the 3 week maintenance BCG at 3 monthly intervals for the next 18-24 months, so hopefully they will stay clear.
Whilst this all appears good news so far, I am still struggling to be 100% positive, but I suppose that is normal.
How about you? How is it all going?
Regards
Colin
Well done so glad to hear you're doing OK..I feel that I don't like tempting fate as well so I just take each check up as it comes ..it is so hard to come fully to terms with our diagnosis but I try my best not to make it the only thing I think about in my life ..it can be hard sometimes but on the whole I'm doing OK I hope this will keep on in the future..I really done want to go down the bad anxiety route ..I'm 66 diagnosed cis bladder cancer February 2021 ..6 bcg treatments 3 maintenance bcg treatments and another 3 maintenance bcg treatments ended December 2021 so far thankfully my checks have been clear... 3 more bcg treatments in may ...the treatments go on for 27 treatments...take care and wishing you well with your treatment best wishes Tina
C,
On a related note, I am now having physio on my back and going swimming in an attempt to improve it.
I don't have the same confidence in the therapist as I do my consultant, but I think it is slowly improving.
I really want to start running again to help with my weight control, which always makes me feel better mentally.
Will need to discuss this with my consultant during next week's BCG.
Regards
Colin
Thanks Tina, that is really good news.
I too don't want this to take over my life. But feel it is.
I seem to be planning things around treatments etc.
I am 62 and still working, albeit from home. Hopefully returning to the office at the end of March on a part-time/hybrid basis. This may give me some normality.
Hope things continue go well for you.
Regards
Colin
