I was diagnosed with bladder cancer last year 12 months ago.  The tumour was 2cm T1 G3.  Had treatments for BCG with MMC.  I 6 rounds of BCG 3 of MMC I took all the treatments well and got through.  Regular check up with camera nothing found 3 biopsy’s done no cancer or tumour found.  Done a recent MRI and CT scan and found another Tumour 1cm in the bladder.  T1 and G3 again.

the Orignal tumour and the cancer in the lining was cured but the return of it I am coming fused what happens and how long this was growing whilst why treatments was happening.

anyone advise weather I should repeat the treatment again or just have a NEO bladder.

Has anyone had a Neo bladder any feed back has anyone nerve system been saved yet?

  • Hello and welcome to the group. Sorry to hear you have had a recurrence, but we know this is not uncommon. Some people have another TURBT to remove it and try again with BCG or Mitomycin treatment. Others opt to go for bladder removal. It is a personal choice. You should have a meeting with your consultant to discuss the best for you. Many people here have had bladder removal and some with neo bladder. I am sure others will be along to share experiences. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • This is a common dilemma. The chance of cure diminishes with recurrences, so you have to weigh up how much of a gamble it is & consider your priorities. Some people wish to hang on to their bladder as long as possible, whatever the risk, others prefer to go for surgery while a cure is still a possibility.

If you go for surgery, you do have to be aware that neo might not be feasible. Nerve sparing is an issue if it's stoma or neo. I'm female, so a bit different, but I do know of men who have had a good result, or use alternative means to address erectile dysfunction post op.. Neo is tough at first, with likely incontinence during the training period, but in the long run it's low maintenance. I had mine 10 yrs ago & am very happy with the outcome.

Happy to answer any questions as best I can.
