  • Hi Steve, just to let you know that here I am, another person wishing you well. I have had so much support on here in dealing with my husband's bladder cancer saga. After a very distressing overnight stay maybe ten years ago for what we now know was a TURBT, sent home in agony, with catheter, bleeding like anything, and took days to pee clear,  the old hospital never even let on it was cancer and we had no idea and they didn't do any follow up.

He had further delay in getting the diagnosis after referral two years ago, and the new hospital [we'd moved north] didn't seem to offer much support although excellent treatment. So the support has been from all the lovely folk on here. Now he's reached a clear cystoscopy and 6 month gap to next one. So although it's horrible now, there's a fair prospect your bladder symptoms could subside after a while, whatever is going on with the prostate.

There is another topic, 'How are we all doing' where we stick not-necessarily-bladder-cancer posts, just to cheer one another up during lockdown etc. You could browse through that to take your mind off things, share your favourite funny with the rest of us? If the pain doesn't get better maybe call nurse or GP in case you have an infection, it's sadly common after having your bladder messed about with.

All the advice to drink is really necessary, I'll pass on my old old GP's tip for this: lots of properly diluted Robinson's Lemon Barley Water. It has an action that discourages germs from lingering in your waterworks. Also personally I find it easier to swig than plain water. And some people find it helpful to lay off possible irritants such as regular coffee/tea [decaff is not so bad], tomatoes, citrus fruit [though usually ok in squash drinks] - it's trial and error.

You might be by yourself but you're not alone, if that makes sense!

    Cheers,

    Denby

Hi Jane , the bleeding is still there and the pain, I have doing nothing but rest , do you think I should contact the hospital or is this normal , I do have prostate cancer , thank you for your kind message

  • Hi Steve, it is likely the bleeding and pain are after effects from TURBT but why not ring the urology dept or your GP and ask about it? The NHS is starting to work normally again and it is perfectly reasonable to ask for guidance when you feel anxious. Everybody experiences TURBTs differently and my first one was definitely the most painful. Best wishes x

    Hi Steve,

I think you should definitely contact the Urology dept to see what they say. It isn’t normal to be in so much pain  and still have blood nearly a week after your TURBT, it’s possible you may have an infection.

if you can’t get through to the hospital speak to your GP or 111.

    best wishes Luce

  • Hi Steve. Just to echo the above. It's time to contact your medics for advice. Also a good idea to drop off a urine sample at your GP to rule out any infection. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Steve,I agree with all the above.Infection is common after turbts so you need to get a sample in.I hope you feel better soon.Love Jane xxx
