hi I’ve been being treated for bladder cancer since 2017, started with bladder removal, then had a kidney removed when it cropped up again in 2022. Was just starting to think I was over it when I was diagnosed 8 weeks ago with recurrent bladder cancer in my pelvis.
I’m incredibly grateful to be receiving EV Pembro on the NHS and have been told that although my cancer can’t now be cured it can be treated.
part of all this is coming to terms with the diagnosis and the uncertainty of it all. I’ve been encouraged to read of other people’s good experience with this treatment.
I shouldn’t complain but I’ve already had significant skin side effects which led them to cut back the 2nd cycle dose of Pembro by 20%. Thats worrying but am also experiencing hair thinning. I’m finding my hair everywhere and don’t scare wash it., I know if I look at the bigger issue my hair shouldn’t bother me but just wondered whether anyone else on this treatment has experienced this and if so how much hair did you lose? Does it happen more at the beginning and then settle down?
best wishes to all.
Hi Jessie22 and welcome to the group although sorry to hear the effects you are having with the Pembro. Not had this myself so not much help. I know we have had others here with this treatment so hopefully someone will be along to help. Best wishes.
I’m so sorry. I so wish I could help regarding your hair. I know how very important, it defines us, our hair is. I was more frightened of losing my hair than I was of my cancer diagnosis. I make no apologies about that. However, and I know this may be of no help to you and indeed you may strongly feel like telling me to piss off, I found the turbans, headwear for hair loss, really attractive. I’m not into wigs myself but I believe they are also amazing. I just like the turbans though,
So, here so am in Edinburgh. Maybe not near you but should we be, I would love to meet up with you. Let me now add to that. I am here in Edinburgh folks so if anyone wishes to meet up with me I would be so delighted.
Kenzie
