I had my radical cystectomy in may 25 and hoped all the cancer would be gone but unfortunately a CT scan on the 30th August came back as suspicious.
A PET scan was ordered and then unbeknownst to me cancelled as it " didn't meet the criteria " !!!???
I only found this out as I rang to find out why it was taking so long? In the meantime I developed horrible pain in my left hip and it was affecting the way I walked. Another PET scan was asked for and I had that on the 9th of December
Unfortunately it showed the pelvic lymph node was distended and there was cancer in the gluteal and pelvic region with some involvement of the illiac vien. So they are looking at an intense burst of radiotherapy.
The meeting to discuss next steps is tomorrow, I'm anxious but also want get moving to do something ,I'm very angry I was left 4months without treatment or anyone looking or guiding my care. It's hard to leave that anger at the door when you go to the meetings. Christmas is a stressful time for all of us for loads of different reasons. And I have been experiencing the toxic positivity from almost everyone. Even my own partner which makes me want to explode, but then that is interpreted as me faltering under the pressure.
This secondary cancer has affected me differently than the primary. The pain is stronger and lasts longer and i hav3 had to go higher on my morphine to cope as im still going to work and then extra so i can sleep.
