Hello everyone. My partner (51m) has CIS. He had two BCG treatments on consecutive weeks - however due to small (tiny really) intermittent blood clots in his urine, he couldn’t have the third session and treatment was halted pending a cystoscopy. He had that yesterday - the Dr isn’t concerned about the clots and has said he can continue with the induction course (to have the remaining 4 treatments). The Dr also said the gap between when the last treatment was (30 September 2025) and when the next one will be isn’t a problem (appointments are being booked for the treatment to resume, so we don’t yet know when treatment three will be).
I feel quite uncomfortable about the gap in his treatment and would have felt better if he could have just started again to have the full 6, week on week. I did ask the Dr why the gap in treatment was okay and he said – “in his experience it is okay”. I couldn’t get anything more than that.
Has anyone else experienced a gap of multiple weeks of missed treatments?
If so – how many weeks gap was there and did you carry on from where you left off or start the 6 sessions from the beginning?
I can’t find any guidance out there to say what should be done.
Thank you for taking the time.
Hi LillyFlower45910d and welcome to the group although sorry to hear your concerns. I've not had BCG so not much help. I am sure someone with experience of this will be along to offer some help. Best wishes.
Thank you for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate it.
I had three bcg treatments last yearafter i had a cis removed. Mine was then stopped due to a reaction in my eyes since then i have had cyscoptopies. Bladder camera ,every three months pus a ct scan so far so good no sign of a return of the cancer. And this routine will be my life for the next two years then a camera every 6 months for 3 years and then? I take each day as it comes but for now i am enjoying life without pain and visiting the loo every 10 to 30 mins. I also visit our local blythe house hospice on a thursday for the afternoon where i talk to others do some art drink as much coffeee and bisquits that you want . There are people trained to understand our needs and fear and they have been so kind and understanding and i cant thank them enough. Talk to Macmillan as they also helped me . Do Not let you or your husband go through this alone.
