Hi I’ve had a turbt on the 1st August and had 2 lumps removed, I’m just asking is it normal to have bladder pain over 3 weeks later? As I feel a bit fed up really and I suppose some reassurance that this is normal perhaps???

  • Hi Peter,Sorry you are still in pain.It can take a few weeks to get over a Turbt so it’s not uncommon to still be in pain after 3 weeks.Hopefully the pain should start to lessen soon. It’s always worth ruling out a urinary infection.Best wishes Jane

  • Thank you for responding, obviously this is a jump into the unknown for many and the reassurance to know this isn’t  unusual is good to know, I suppose I was expecting it subside a bit earliest than this as it’s quite uncomfortable at times, my thoughts as well about keep taking paracetamol for any length of time is making me think as I’m not one for tablets under normal circumstances

  • They do vary.If they have to go quite deep in the bladder for biopsies that can cause more pain and you have to take into account the number of biopsies taken too.Is this your first TURBT ?

  • Yes it is and I don’t want another, I was told it hadn’t gone into the muscle but managing the uncomfortable aspect is a challenge, with the constipation as well it’s quite awkward.

  • I found my first one back in the 1980’s far worse than the others.Unfortunately they are needed for correct diagnosis and monitoring.Have you found anything to help the constipation ? It will help with the pain if you get the bowels more active.

  • Yes I’m currently using dulcolax and dulcoease, but you have to use it to your own timeframe as it starts working for me about 8 hours after taking it and during that time window it starts getting uncomfortable, I’m aware I shouldn’t strain as that puts pressure on the area. None of this I was made aware of when coming out after the operation
