Hi peeps...me again! My husband has not had his kidney CT results yet (rang the urology department to be told they are in but have not been looked at yet?!)
Anyway, for the last few days, my hubbie has had pain on his left lower back / side. I am feeling really upset watching him (though clearly, I'm hiding it). He's worried that it's an indication of something else sinister. I keep thinking back to a month ago, when every thing was normal before the s* hit the fan and turned our world totally on its head.
What's the protocol for CT scan results - as in how long do we have to wait? ...and does the referring person (in our case, the urologist that did the initial confirmation and referral for the scan) contact the patient?
Thank you
x
Hi B2theC . Scan results are usually ready after about 10 days and report sent to the consultant. You then have to wait for a doctor to be available to discuss the results. It may be a different doctor who delivers the result. We don't always see the same person. Usually face to face appointments, but we are seeing more phone appointments recently. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
Do you have much support ? It’s such a terrible time for loved ones as they feel so helpless. You go through every emotion and different scenarios at the start.Once you have a treatment plan you can focus on the future. We have all been there and come through it but understand how tough it feels right now.x
I seem to be waiting at least 4 weeks between having the CT scan and being told the results. It all depends on how busy the teams are. My oncologist usually gives the result (used to be in person but last one after 5 weeks over the phone).
Its over 2 years since my op and when I bumped into my CNS last month she said they are busier than ever and that there are many more younger patients being referred into them by local hospitals (this is one of the big London teaching hospitals). It all means the radiologists are being kept very busy.
Hope you get your husband's results soon.
All the best,

WOW! 4 and 5 weeks! This is crazy! I totally get they are busy and we are one out of hundreds but that wait is a lifetime! EVERYthing is put on hold - no plans made / plans cancelled, living in perpetual fear. It is not the way one should have to live. I thank the heavens for the NHS but truly feel for everyone that is also in this limbo x
