Hi everyone

Hope you are all  well just wanted to share my experience of my of my upcoming surveillance check up so Xmas came and went BC was well and truly not in my thoughts until January hit then it was right a letter or NHS app notification incoming to be be expected in the coming week Ste nearly check up time the weeks continued to roll by and nothing so mid February emailed my consultants Secretary and got a swift reply yes Ste your on the list to be appointed in March like you say.

So we arrived at St Patrick’s Day Still nothing so I took it upon myself to ring booking and scheduling and explain that I was Due in March and I had heard nothing so the lady explained they was so far behind that it could of been another month before I heard anything and swiftly booked not something that filled me confidence and instilled in me going forward that as soon as I hit the month I’m due for a surveillance appointment I am giving them a nudge and booking it myself I don’t know whether we are highlighted on the system as priority or not but It would seem so because as soon as I explained the  what what and why I was ringing I was booked in straight away so why the delay so basically all I’m saying is if any of you are in the situation I found myself in earlier this month still waiting to be booked in just give them a little nudge they are under a lot of pressure given the state the country is in and things can be overlooked but on the bright side I will only be a couple of weeks past I the date I was due  when I go a week tomorrow

all the best to you all

Ste

  • Hi Ste. A familiar story as the waiting lists get longer. Sometimes we have to manage our own appointments but we get there in the end. I hope all goes well with your appointment. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Rily

we live and learn don’t we not had any issues and feel exactly the same as I did before my last one but as we know that doesn’t mean there is nothing to be seen and that is the nature of BC I’ve prepared myself for them to say see you in 9 months or unfortunately we need to have have another go in there Ste and that’s all I can do just get on with it good to hear from you

  • When I was on 3 month follow ups post RC, I often rang up to nudge. They always seemed to schedule OP lists & book at short notice, so sometimes i would get an appointment booked when I rang up, if they had a slot to fill. Definitely worth getting in touch to remind them!

  • I’ll definitely be ringing them everytime in future always best to keep on top of things
