Hello everyone, I had my first BCG yesterday after having 2 TURBT the secind showing G2/3 pTa
I have had no symptoms whatsoever from the BCG and was wondering whether this is normal or whether it means it's not working? I am a bit worried and would be grateful to hear whether anyone else has had this experience and whether it worked, thanks
Hi Pru1, welcome to this friendly forum. I have had 12 bcg so far, if you click on my profile i have recorded each bit and reactions. I can say that all of the folk on here have had varying responses to bcg , some hardly anything and some pretty strong. I am sure someone will be along soon to reassure you. Stick with the forum , its very supportive x
Much love Angela x
Hi Pru1 and a welcome from me. Just to add to Angela's post. How people react to treatment is no indication of things working or not. Some people sail through it with good results and others can have severe reactions and it not work. You just can't tell and it's all down to the individual. Best wishes.
Hi Pru1,
Welcome to this friendly group. Just to echo what others have said that people react differently but it will be doing it's thing.
Thinking back to my induction course which was two years ago now, I recall almost thinking the same. Although I was more relieved that the catheter wasn't as big as the TURBT catheter.. Funny what goes through the mind eh.
As my treatment went on the effects have lasted for longer, but normally improve after 24 Hours for me .Especially the urgency, but I consider myself lucky so far.
My last instillation was last Tuesday and It's still a bit sore when I wee.
Wishing you all the best with your BCG journey and hoping that the side effects are minimal.
Keep us updated.
Trevor
Hi Trevor, thanks for your response, it's nice to hear from someone who is 2 years ahead of me and a relief to hear that it's not unusual to have minimal symptoms on the first installation.
I will now pray that future ones are equally symptom free although it would seem that it is unlikely to be the case.
Wishing you the best of luck with the rest of your BCG and pleased that it appears to be working well for you.
Best wishes
Good morning Pru1. From my experience it’s perfectly normal not to have any side effects from BCG. After 15 instillations I moved on to 15 Mitomycin and again I had no side effects at all . The effectiveness will be measured by routine tests and not by the severity of any reaction., kind regards, John .
