One week on from my first TURBT

Hi Everyone.

Well, it's been an interesting week.  From firstly worrying about the procedure, to having it, realising that my initial fears were unfounded (the procedure went smoothly with no pain, had an epidural and watch the whole thng on a monitor) and the post op chemo and recovery all were fine.  Ending up in A&E the same night due to a blocked catheter (not recommended) and finally the relief of having it removed 2 days later.

It's been a reflective week, with the enorimity of cancer sinking in and the irony of it rearing it's head in my retirement year.

And it's brought me to today; my urination is improving, volume on the increase, regular and clearer, but with some increased pain down below.  GP has provided a fit note for a couple of weeks and I'm dropping a sample in to check for infection just in case.

As a newbee here I haven't had much interaction with everyone because I've felt I don't have much to offer yet.  But it has been a great source of comfort knowing that others have gone through this and the comments received have been a big help.  (Thank you all)

For anyone joining this community I would heartily recommend doing so and taking part.  They are a very giving bunch.

  • Hi Nikink, Kind of hoping I don't have an infection, but if I have the GP will ring me - much better that way thn trying to contact them Slight smile

  • Thanks Simon, I'm sure things will get easier as time progresses and I become more familiar with thr routines and treatments.

    Thanks

  • Hi Rob,

Good to hear thing's are going well apart from the pain of course.

This forum and the lovely people definitely made the early day's easier and still do.

I found hearing about other people's experiences a great source of comfort. I've learnt more on these forums than from any medical professional. I'm not saying my medical team's haven't helped and they have been brilliant. Although I did bury my head in the sand at the beginning, so maybe I'm to blame.

    Wishing you all the best.
