Hello

My brother was diagnosed with bladder cancer in September, had tumour removed and told it was in his lymph nodes. He had to wait until 24th November for his Pet Scan results to be told it had spread to his bones. He had his first chemo on 9th December Carboplatin and Gemcitabine but had a bad reaction on Thursday and Friday in his lower legs which went very cold and his knees were blue.,He was assessed at the Oncology Unit and deemed fit to continue with Gemcitabine this Monday just gone and a reduced dose of Carboplatin to continue but after spending all day there on Monday he was told late afternoon that he wouldn’t be able to have any more because of the reaction, would need an appointment to see the oncologist and sent home.

Today his cancer nurse has said he can’t see the oncologist until early January.

Is that a reasonable gap without any explanation as to what might follow? If they have to try an alternative treatment does there need to be a gap between one finishing and the next starting? Or is the delay likely to be down to the Christmas break? His poor daughter is tearing her hair out trying to get answers and ensure he gets the treatment that’s needed. Any help/advicecappreciated.
