I have been to see my surgeon & have been told that to only thing to be done is to remove the lot. That means having a stoma and bag. Would be grateful to anyone who has gone though this to comment on this experience.
Yes, I can see you know from bitter experience how tough it can be. I always say the carer has it worse - as the patient one just keeps doing as one is told and hoping for the best. The carer has the hard work and the worry and has to keep quiet for fear of worrying the patient too.
We all kept saying what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and hoped it was true. It was.
Well done, I'm a fortnight ahead of you with the same result. Mind you, these days comfort easily trumps smart for me. Either way, nobody has ever noticed my stoma bag.
For anyone who might have any clothes problems M&S women's stoma pants are ace and cheap and at the weekend I read that Primark, of all shops, is moving into adaptable clothing. Some who have stomas in slightly awkward places may find this helpful. I will be looking at what they are doing. The main idea with adaptables is eg magnetic fasteners rather than tight buttons or zips and access from each side of the waistband. Those of us with arthritic hands and arms might benefit from those.
All the best,
