I'm at the Hospital with BCG number 1 sloshing about in my bladder. Doing my best to keep it in for the required 2 hours. I'm well stocked up with bleach and Robinsons Barley Water for when I get home. Wish me luck.
Love Ade xx
Ade, what strikes me about that 2013 guidance is the fact that it has not changed since 2013. The treatments are the same now. It seems that little has gone on to find and deploy new cures in the U.K. Not quite sure why this is. Of course there is in fact a lot of research worldwide into new treatments for BC, and a lot of interesting trials also. Fingers crossed there will make it across into mainstream treatment in the U.K. Leo
Let's hope so Leo. I do know that there more studies being done on other Immunotherapies and tailored treatments using dendritic cells. Bladder Cancer is among the most costly to treat, probably due to high chance of reoccurrence, so even from an economic point of view we need more research.

Hi Angela
Sorry to hear you're not at your best today. I understand the rollercoaster feeling very well. Sometimes you feel as though you are carrying a very heavy load and then inbetween results and treatment you can put that load down and have a bit of a break. But when the next thing comes along you are back to shouldering that heavy load again and I personally do find it very stressful. It's a very wierd situation to find ourselves in. Let's manifest positivity and we will be able to get through
Love to you, enjoy the bleaching!

Thanks Ade thats lovely of you to ask. Today has been ok. I have myself a good routine to follow. Feeling pretty much fatigue right now, but thats the same as the first 6. So I am quite happy so far.
How are you feeling 24 hrs on from yours ?
Much love Angela x
I've been really tired today Angela. No other symptoms to mention though so I think I've got off lightly with my first one.
Glad you're doing well.
Let's hope we both get a good night's sleep

Hello, my husband starts his BCG treatments on Monday and I mentioned to the doctor that I had read up on the 'cleaning' process after treatments and he told me that it wouldn't be an issue for us as my husband is having his treatment in the hospital, not being sent home with the BCG stuff in his bladder to be released at home into our loo. You seem to be having your treatment at a hospital but there are mentions through this thread of bleach?? I've got plenty of bleach and of course, Robinsons Barley Water. I'm therefore assuming that we have to be ultra cautious when my husband comes home and has to use the loo, hence the need for bleach?
Hi Janpet
I had my first treatment on the day unit at my hospital and I had to stay for 2 hours then use the hospital toilet which the staff then bleached. For the first instillation they wanted me to stay at the hospital just in case I had a reaction to the BCG and to ensure I could pass urine easily afterwards. For the 6 hours after I got home each time I passed urine I was asked to continue to add 2 cup fulls of bleach to the toilet bowl, put the lid down and then flush after 15 minutes. Your husband will have to urinate sitting down for those first 6 hours after treatment to lessen the chance of splashing. If any urine comes into contact with the skin of the genital area then this should be washed with soapy water. I was provided with a leaflet explaining the cleaning measures. It also explained in the leaflet to avoid sex for 24 hours after the treatment and then for the following week to use a condom. The BCG is a live bacteria and these measures are to protect your Husband and yourself.
If I were you I would ask for an Information Leaflet on BCG therapy.
Hope this helps and that your Husband copes well on Monday.
