On March 1st, my urologist told me that he suspected that bladder cancer had spread into my left ureter. He asked the X-ray people to insert a stent into my kidney to run into my bladder. The opening of the ureter couldn’t be found. I am still waiting. Any advice?
Sorry no advice as different experience for my OH. But just welcome to the group if you are new, not sure if I've seen your name before. Apologies if I got that wrong.
Hi Derby74 . We are a friendly bunch here and know what you are going through. Always someone here to answer any questions or just talk. Best wishes,
I’m sorry to hear, because it has spread most probably will block the ureter , that in turn , won’t allow your kidney to drain into the bladder which will cause kidney blockage/failure . Another way around it ,I assume, they will go down nephrostomy route if they can’t insert the stent as they will need your kidney to function properly when it comes to further treatment like chemo etc .
Hi Derby74,Welcome to the group.I hope you will find it helpful and supportive. If you have a specialist nurse you could contact them or perhaps the radiography department.Fingers crossed you are not kept waiting much longer.Let us know how you get on.Best wishes Jane
Hi
They may put a drain into your kidney and drain the urine into an external bag. Quite a common procedure and I had one about six years ago. I was definitely suggest talking to your CSN.
