Ok folks, I am waiting for my 2nd TURBT in a few days, and am looking forward to getting a treatment plan in place after that.
If I may ask ask a stupid question : is it usual to be tired at this stage, a few weeks after diagnosis, and my 1st TURBT and surgery to remove the tumour? I don’t know if it’s mental, physical or both, but I quite often feel whacked. It makes me a bit cranky too, unfortunately.
Any feedback and advice gratefully received !
thanks,
Leo
Hi Leo,I felt very tired at this stage. It was the reason I could no longer care for mum and had to put her into respite care.Jane
I think it's normal to have bouts of tiredness. The body has gone through a lot of trauma and uses all available energy towards the healing process. I think you are right about the mental side of things as well. The constant thinking and worrying must have an effect on overall health. Best wishes.
Hi Leo, I think its both physical and mental tbh. Body working hard recovering from surgery etc, the mind on full alert asking a whole load of what ifs. I think its ok to be a bit cranky, you are going through alot.
All that I can say is dont give yourself a hard time. Treat yourself to something you like , to lift tired the mind and body. Try to take one day at a time. Be your own best friend if you know what I mean.
When is your 2nd turbt ?
much love to you

Evening all. I put the tiredness down to a busy troubled mind either working the diagnosis over or over working to take the mind off it. Had my 2nd TURBT 16 weeks after the first. Nothing there except the initial scar which has been scraped for biopsy. A bit sore but 6 hours in and out not the 36 hours I was preparing for. So guess I have a better expectation for any more I need. Feel like today has some positives to reflect on but not getting carried away. Tring to keep an even keel. Thanks all and hope your on reasonable form. X
My husband is waiting for the first turbt on the 22nd Feb. He's constantly tired. His brain seems to shut down and he can't absorb things. I talked to his specialist nurse. She said it's common. His anxiety and fear is making him tired. It obviously takes a huge toll on the mind as well as the body. Just be kind to yourself. You're going through a huge scary time. I hope all goes well for you.
Before my (first) TURBT last August, I had been extremely fatigued for many months even before there was blood in the urine which appeared in February/March 2023, and well before I had any idea I had a bladder tumour. I have no doubt that the cancerous tumour was the primary cause of the fatigue, extreme right lower back pain, and the bleeding and extreme blood clots in the urine all of which sent me to hospital last July. After the tumour was removed, almost all of my lower back pain subsided, the bleeding stopped (apparently cancerous tumours in the bladder bleed easily), and my energy level dramatically improved very quickly. No doubt my worrying and poor sleep didn’t help during this period, but I believe that the tumour was the primary cause of the extreme fatigue. It was to the point that I wasn’t sure I could get through the work day and I was working from home at the time.
