I have recently been diagnosed (September) with Bladder cancer that has now spread to my Left Pelvic Muscle. My consultant has told me i have a realistic chance of surviving for 2 years. Is it normal not to be offered any treatment, i am fairly fit and healthy and i am still working as the only issue i have is pain management for Sciatica type symptoms.
I believe it must be really bad if they have not offered any treatment
35 years ago my husband, a dermatologist, operated on a 30-year-old patient for a malignant melanoma on the thigh. The work-up showed that an inguinal lymph node had been affected (crossing the capsule). The patient had this lymph node removed. Then, 2 years later, he was diagnosed with a single brain metastasis, which was removed. The prognosis was really not good. As a result, he had no children other than his daughter, who had already been born. He was refused all bank loans. Now this patient, who has become a very close friend, is 65 and will die of another pathology. I tell you this story to remind you that the survival statistics given by doctors are often fairly close to reality, but they are still statistics.
You know how serious the disease is, but from what you say, you're going to be a good collaborator in the treatment
Have a nice day
Catherine
I like yourself have Stage 4 BC that had spread to 1 lymph node but no local. I was told 18-24 months was the prognosis. This was in Feb/March i have had 6 months of chemo Gem/carbo and the lymph node shrunk from 14mm to 4mm. I have just started immunotherapy and in all honesty i feel no different than i did Feb 22 when all this started except i know i have cancer.
Keep battling, never give up and live every day to its full extent. Heres hoping and praying for you on this battle.
Chemo can be tough but everyone is different it wiped me out at the begining but i learnt to deal with it. Immuno so far so good no major side effects.
