Was diagnosed with bladder cancer a couple of weeks ago and going in for a TURBT next week, my tumour is invasive and is T3 N1 . Wondering how fast you get results and treatment plan? Been looking at bladder removal op as at this stage it could be a possibility. I feel in limbo at the moment as I’m still under urology and not oncology so can’t talk to anyone. Any advice or info would be much appreciated TIA
Hi Blondy, welcome to this very helpful group, others on here are much more experienced and I am sure will respond very quickly. I myself have only been diagnosed one a year but was in complete shock like we all are when we get this diagnosis. This group can help give support and sometimes guidance, which really helps in these early days. There will be people on here that have had bladder removal and others opted for other treatments. I am having a treatment called Bcg. I have had two turbts and they are not as bad as you think. Hang on in there and I am sure the regulars will respond to you and they have been around on this blog for a long time, they are very helpful with advice and reassurance.
Hi Blondy and a welcome from me although sorry to hear your news. You are in good company here as many of us have been through this and know how you must be feeling. The early days of uncertainty and not knowing can be very stressful. It takes a couple of weeks following a TURBT to get results and a full diagnosis. The results of the biopsies will determine the next step. Not sure how they have given you a staging as you don't usually get this until the biopsies are done. Feel free to ask any questions. Lots of experience here. Best wishes.
Hi Blondy and welcome to the group
I had surgery this year with stage 3 invasive bladder cancer, I did not know what stage the cancer was at till after the biopsy which I waited 5 weeks for the results
Its a very emotional time and you will need family support, If there is any advice I can give you I will be more than happy to help
Best Wishes Anya
Hi Blondy,Welcome to our friendly group.Once your TURBT results are back you will be given an appointment with a consultant to discuss treatment.I had muscle invasive and saw a surgeon oncologist about 6 weeks after diagnosis. It’s usual to feel lost at the start but stay on here and we will all try to support you.People tend to feel better emotionally once they have a treatment plan.Take it a step at a time.I hope you find it helpful here.Love and best wishes Jane
Thanks for replying, it’s a tough time for all of us. Can I ask you how long you were in hospital for your TURBT I have my op in the afternoon so def be one night. Just wondering cus I’m booked in a hospital 1hr away from home because it’s urgent.
Hi Blondy . Most people are out in under 24 hours, but it depends on how deep they go. Mine was very deep in to the muscle and I was in for four days, but was up and walking about the ward on day 2 with a catheter in. Best wishes.
