So my 85 year old mother has BC just had a turbts surgery last Friday allowed home Saturday she’s not very mobile but it’s the fact that she’s passing urine at least every 40 minutes she just can’t hold urine in she also has only one kidney that works but that is slowly getting worse, my question is is it normal with bc to constantly need the loo ? They couldn’t get all the tumour out so she’s going for a ct scan next week she’s so tired and I worry about her
Hello Dippydolly and welcome to the group although sorry to hear about Mum. A CT scan is routine to give them a bigger picture. Frequent urination can be common following a TURBT. The bladder has undergone trauma but there is always the possibility of infection following this procedure, so it would be wise to drop a sample at your mother's GP for testing. Usually if you drop a sample off before 3pm, the results should be back the following day. It may sound like a contradiction under the circumstances, but it is important Mum drinks plenty of water regularly in order to keep blood and debris flushed out. Some people recommend a hint of lemon barley water to make it easier. Some people stop drinking in the belief it will help stop the urination, but this has an adverse affect. The urine becomes acidic and irritates the bladder causing the need to go. I hope all goes well. Best wishes.
