Still in pain

Hi everyone,

Following my TURBT on 9th March my life has been a rollercoaster ride from hell.  I have been diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma.  Unfortunately it is aggressive as it has spread to my pelvic lymph glands.  I am going through chemotherapy and just finished with my first cycle.  But after my 2nd dose of chemo I had a complication, my temperature went up to 38.8 and the cause was that the ureter on my right kidney was blocked.  Due to this I had a nephrostomy on my kidney, the urine is perfectly clear from the kidney.  However, I am still getting blood, blood clots and bad spasms in my bladder.  Is this normal considering the diagnosis?? If it isnt who do I call, GP, oncologist, urology cancer nurse???

  • Hi Cazy,I’m so sorry you are in pain and that your cancer has spread.I had squamous cell and was in a lot of pain before bladder removal especially with bladder spasms.I only had microscopic blood though and one solid tumour that was causing an obstruction.Perhaps contact your nurse first and take it from there.I hope something can be done to help.Love and best wishes Jane

  • I’ve just found diary from the time before op and I was passing visible blood and bits of tumour then.

  • The one thing that cannot be done is remove my bladder, I have Guillian-Barre which has left me in an electric wheelchair and heart problems.

So we are hoping chemotherapy and then the radiotherapy will work.

  • I hope it will and that they can get you out of pain.I’m so sorry that the Guillian-Barre has left you with these problems and unable to have the surgery.Best wishes Jane
