Evening Everyone

I had my TURBT with the usual afterwards on Monday 24tb.
Is it normal to feel sick to?

I came home same day with catheter which I had removed yesterday

Everything according to Urology Surgeon went well. They did have to go into the bladder a bit she said.
now just a waiting game to see what results are which should be a couple of weeks. I do have an appointment pencilled in for 16th November but no time.
I just feel really shattered and in a bit of pain. Also have backache.
How did you all feel after your TURBT?

I have been told not to lift etc and could take upto 6/8 weeks to heal.
Have any of you got any tips that you could give me that helped you afterwards.

Thank you for all of your help and support.

  • Hi . Not unusual to feel like this for a while. I was kept in hospital for four days with my catheter and felt a bit sick for a few days. It is normal to have a bit of ack pain. Bear in mind you have had an operation and an inside wound which you cannot see. Some people take a while to get over the anaesthetic. In cases where they have to dig a bit deep, they may give you some morphine which can also make you feel sick. Your discharge notes should tell you what you have had. It will sting for a few days when peeing but should gradually subside. Besides nothing strenuous for a couple of weeks, the main advice we are given is to drink plenty of water 2-3 litres a day. This is to keep debris and blood flushed out and help prevent any blockages. It is hard to drink so much water and some people recommend a touch of lemon barley in it to help it down. Keep a bottle of water handy and drink regularly during the day, stopping about 2 hours before bedtime. I hope your results go well and that determines the next step. Best wishes.

    Best wishes to All,   rily.

  • Hi Ben1,Sorry you are not feeling so good.I used to find a hot water bottle was a help as well as regular painkillers and fluids.I always avoided lifting, excessive bending or stretching for a few weeks afterwards.I hope you feel better soon.Best wishes Jane
