I had my bladder removed on the 1st of September been home for 3 days I was doing okay but suddenly yesterday I got up and loads of liquid came out of my bottom or somewhere and it’s still coming out as soon as I get up from sitting . I spoke to the nurse and she said you will get discharge but this is gushing out .
Hu Susb. I think you may need to contact the urology dept. for advice if it seems to be excessive. Hopefully someone with experience of this may be along to help. If it doesn't stop and you can't get through to the hospital, it may be advisable to call 111. Best wishes.
Hi Susb,I had a lot of vaginal and anal leakage after the cystectomy. It was a suprise as I hadn’t been told about it.If it’s gushing all the time it’s probably best to get it checked out.I had some gushing at the start but mainly while I was still in hospital. It is bad that we are not warned beforehand that this can happen.Love Jane
Thanks Jane The oncology nurse has just rung and she said it’s normal it might be uncomfortable for awhile but it will stop . I’m stuck really because as soon as I get up from the chair it’s gushing out so hoping it will ease soon . Didn’t know this would happen but I just have to get through it . Best Wishes Susan
Do you have stoma or neobladder? Occasionally a hole develops between neo & vagina, so the urine flows through & out, as you describe. May be worth trying to collect a sample. If you need to use incontinence pads, buy them online from somewhere like ageukincontince supplies - more choice & cheaper than High Street stores. I didn't have any discharge at all, I must have been very lucky.
Thanks for your reply I have a stoma I was told I would have some discharge but this was a lot more than that . The urology nurse has assured me it will stop so hoping it will . It is easing a bit I suppose just one of the things I have to get through. Thanks again for replying. Best Wishes Susan
