Hi all
I went for my results today after TURBT 4 weeks ago and they told me the following ... that the cells have changed so they are not safe and not benign but they didn't quite make the cut to be full blown cancer but then told me it's low grade bladder cancer. They were going to do a shot of chemo direct into my bladder when they did the TURBT but decided not to as the chance of me having bladder cancer at 35 is minimal. (Feel this should have been done now)
I go back in November for another camera into my bladder to make sure it's not come back, if it has they will discuss treatment options if not then they check again in a year.
Has this diagnoses been given to anyone else?
Thanks in advance
Hi Rachel. It seems as though you have been given some mixed messages. Unfortunately, you now have a bit of a wait for a follow up cystoscopy for any sort of confirmation. Although they don't seem to have a definite diagnosis, it does sound positive. Best wishes.
Hi Rachel1987,Have they told you the name of the cell changes ? I had pre cancerous cell changes in the bladder for 14 years before developing bladder cancer. It started off as Squamous metaplasia but then the bladder became scaly. The scales were known as keratinising squamous metaplasia. You may have something completely different but the hospital should tell you.I was monitored by regular cystoscopies and cytology tests which involved giving a sample of urine to be checked for signs of cancer cells.Love Jane x
Hi. No he didn't mention anything like that he just said the cells have changed and it's low grade. When your in these meetings it's hard to ask the questions, I always forget to ask x
Iv not been given any report. Iv looked on my GP records and there is nothing on their either.
I expect when you get the letter following this meeting it will say exactly what the changes are. It’s good that they are going to monitor everything.Love Jane x
I had visible blood in my urine around 2 years ago and the doctor fobbed me off saying it would be "women's problems" I then got it again around 6 months later but stupidly ignored it because of what the doctor said. I then changed doctors. When I was on holiday in May this year I could see blood in my urine again but my bladder didn't feel right, I was (and still am) weeing around 8 times a night, bladder never feels completely empty and I have little niggly pains too. My new doctor was on the ball luckily and put me on the right path..
Glad your new doctor is on the ball and sorting things for you! Doctors seem so quick to dismiss things! Did you know size growth you had? X
He said it was very small, around 5mm I think he said
