I have just finished a long conversation with my surgeon regarding my Radical Cystectomy.
He has recommended that I delay my decision on the operation until the end of the momth in order to give me a chance to get more information, such as the resaults of my 2nd CT scan & other treatment options.
I have Bladder cancer stage 4 which has affected my prostate & possible thickening of the tube from one of my kidneys. My 2nd CT scan showed shrinkage of the tumour & no apparant metastatis.
My oncologist had suggested the possibility of a radiotherapy & chemo treatment path option to try before a Radical Cystectomy. My surgeon felt that this was an option, but it seems neither options has the greatest chance of receovery. I am undertaking pathway blocking under the care of COC plus careful diet & fasting. COC advised in favour of the Radical Cystectomy. My oncologist has only spoken to me once, I am hoping that I can get more contact.
I think urologists and oncologists often have different views on the way forward. Both like to promote their own specialities. I think it is right to find as much information as possible in order to make an informed decision. Best wishes.
